On the Sonnhalde site in Burgdorf, a contemporary residential and care environment is taking shape, offering both independent and assisted living for older people. The Sonnhalde Foundation is refurbishing the existing care home in the northern part of the plot and extending it eastwards with a new wing providing 31 additional care rooms. This will enable the institution to accommodate a total of 48 residents in need of care.
In the southern area of the site, three new residential buildings with a total of 53 barrier-free and affordable flats are planned. They are primarily designed for older people who wish to live independently while benefiting from the proximity to the care home. All parking will be provided in an underground car park. Through the refurbishment and new development, the Sonnhalde site is being transformed into a contemporary place to live and receive care — combining support, independence and community.
