Revitalisation of the Engadinerhof site in Scuol – purchase agreement lays foundation for new tourist infrastructure
Bergbahnen Scuol SA and Halter AG have signed a purchase agreement for the development of the former Engadinerhof site. This gives the centrally located area a clear future: a forward-looking project is set to revitalise the site and strengthen its position in the long term.
Plans are in place for a development with a hotel offering around 130 rooms. This will expand Scuol's tourist infrastructure, support year-round occupancy and bring additional added value to the region. The hotel will be complemented by staff accommodation and tourist apartments, which will secure the business and offer guests flexible accommodation options. In addition, there will be primary and secondary residences to meet local housing needs. A spacious, publicly accessible outdoor area connects the site with the town, while the underground car park frees up space above ground for socialising.
The aim is to realise a sustainable and locally integrated project that expands the tourist infrastructure in the Lower Engadine, attracts additional guests and strengthens the long-term appeal of Scuol as a holiday and recreation destination. Together with Bergbahnen Scuol SA, which contributes local expertise and tourism experience, Halter is developing a building complex that will create additional living space, unlock new open spaces and make the location resilient for the future.
Roman Kummer, Project Manager at Halter AG:
‘The hotel complex will offer visitors unforgettable moments and at the same time help to further consolidate Scuol's position as a lively and attractive tourist destination.’
The contract signing marks the start of the planning and legal implementation process. A project-related partial revision of the land use plan and the development of a design plan are planned. The basis for this is a model project that Halter will develop in close collaboration with the municipality of Scuol over the coming months.
Andri Lansel, Chairman of Bergbahnen Scuol SA:
‘We arr delighted to have Halter AG as a strong partner at our side in further developing Scuol as a year-round destination. This project will bring added value for guests, locals and the entire region.’
The building application is scheduled to be submitted in mid-2028. With new tourist infrastructure, additional living space and attractive open spaces, the development will make an important contribution to the future of Scuol and to the sustainable strengthening of the Lower Engadine.
