Stadtsägi, St. Gallen (SG)

The nine wooden structures of the new ‘Lebensraum Stadtsägi’ will in future contain around 190 studios, shared apartments, family apartments and MOVEments. They will also form two distinctive inner spaces within their urban setting: a square – ‘Sägiplatz’ – and a lane – ‘Sägigass’. Sägiplatz is the heart of the housing development, benefiting the whole district with its ground floor spaces open to the public. Sägigass is a place for exercise and neighbourly interaction. The park-like green space flows around the building to form a diverse open space with surrounding play and recreation areas.
