The nine wooden structures of the new ‘Lebensraum Stadtsägi’ will in future contain around 188 studios, shared apartments, family apartments and the clever design concept for flexible living called MOVEment. They will also form two distinctive inner spaces within their urban setting: a square – Sägiplatz – and a lane – Sägigass. Sägiplatz is the heart of the housing development, benefiting the whole district with its ground floor spaces open to the public. Sägigass is a place for exercise and neighbourly interaction. The park-like green space flows around the building to form a diverse open space with surrounding play and recreation areas.
By using prefabricated wall elements in timber panel construction and cavity box ceilings, the timber construction concept is designed to maximise resource efficiency. The façades feature high-quality timber formwork made of spruce and fir wood, which has already been pre-greyed. This natural and high-quality look not only creates a unique contrast to the surroundings, but also emphasises the authenticity of the building form.
