Emergency power station, Zurich

The supply of drinking water to the city of Zurich's inhabitants is an elemental need. To safeguard supplies of drinking water, the two emergency power generators installed in the 1970s needed to be replaced by four more efficient and powerful generators. The refurbishment called for all-round conversion of the operations centre, both inside and out, as well as replacement of the diesel-fuelled emergency power generators. At the same time, the entire control system will be replaced, and a redundant power supply installed. The main challenges of the assignment were coordination of several projects running concurrently and getting the entire system up and running to the required quality standards within the prescribed deadlines. The systems went into operation on 20 September 2017.
