Establishment of "Urban Development and Architecture" as a new integral competence centre

Schlieren, 11 April 2024

From April 2024, Halter AG will be setting up a new internal "Urban Development and Architecture" competence centre under the responsibility of Christof Glaus, former Senior Partner at Stücheli Architekten. This is to support the areas of developments, overall services and renovations, particularly in the early strategic phases of project development. The close and cooperative partnership with external, recognised urban planners, architects and open space planners remains of central importance.

As a Halter Group company, we share a common vision: to establish a circular economy in order to achieve the sustainability target of net zero for all our projects. We are driven by the efficient use of our resources in the form of optimised projects in terms of energy efficiency, sustainability and productivity.

The circular economy means offering business models, services and products that support the achievement of climate targets. This requires a structural change in the property and construction industry that promotes and demands integrated cooperation models. We have therefore been successfully using the design-build model in the development and realisation of projects for several years. This is a model in which all relevant parties, i.e. clients, general contractors, architects, specialist planners, specialists and also construction companies and product manufacturers, are on board at the latest in the engineering phase and pull together in the same direction - transparently, in partnership and with identical objectives.

The roles and tasks of the architects also remain essential in the design-build model. After all, their work shapes the built environment and thus the quality of life of the people in it. However, this area is also subject to processual change and must be considered and planned in a more integrated way. Based on this conviction and with the aim of continuous further development, Halter AG will establish a new "Urban Development and Architecture" competence centre within the company from April 2024 under the responsibility of Christof Glaus, former Senior Partner at Stücheli Architekten.

"In Christof Glaus, we have gained a renowned urban planner and architect who has been responsible for many outstanding designs and their realisation during his successful career. His skills as a jury member or chairman in numerous variance procedures are also undisputed," says Maik Neuhaus, CEO of Halter AG.

The new "Urban Planning and Architecture" team is attached directly to the CEO of Halter AG and supports the Halter Developments, Total Services and Renovations divisions in the early strategic phases of project development in the form of urban planning and architectural feasibility studies. In addition, we can also offer our clients and project teams support in the design phase with approval issues and processes or in the engineering and production phase with regard to design quality assurance.

Christof Glaus says: "Urban planning and architecture have a comprehensive influence on public and private life. They represent a constant cultural expression, characterised by the values of the clients, developers, planners and contractors involved. In an innovative interdisciplinary environment with the clear methodology of an integrated process, these values are to be moulded at an early stage into a substantial, sustainable and consistent overall idea. I am really looking forward to this responsible task."

Halter AG's systematic focus on circularity and integral collaboration between architecture, planning and execution enables us to realise projects not only sustainably, but also more efficiently and in a more collaborative manner. With the internal "Urban Design and Architecture" team, we are able to gain additional valuable insights, which are necessary for the transformation process towards a circular economy, even better and faster.

The close and cooperative partnership with external, recognised urban planners, architects and open space planners remains of central importance. We are firmly convinced that, in the interests of sustainable and efficient projects, we can work together to establish processes in the property and construction industry that are suitable for the grandchildren and achieve the best possible results for all stakeholders.

Our top promise remains unchanged: We continue to offer excellence in terms of quality and productivity.
