EWB complex, Bern

Over the next few years, a new urban working and living space will be created between Europaplatz and Weyermannshaus in the heart of the Ausserholligen development focus. A total of four buildings will then shape the silhouette of Bern's west. Energie Wasser Bern (EWB) will set up its headquarters in the 110-metre-high tower. The two buildings on construction sites B and C will house the Viadukt housing cooperative. These high-rise buildings, 97 metres and 78 metres high, provide space for over 220 cooperative flats as well as a broadly diversified range of indoor and outdoor communal areas. Although spatially separated, the respective base storeys connect the building sites with retail, gastronomy, service, health, care and cultural areas to form an area that is perceived as a whole. The high proportion of greenery in the outdoor space, the reduction of basement volumes, a very limited number of parking spaces and an intelligent sustainability concept make a significant contribution to a sustainable overall project.
